New Music and Old Projects

January 25 2023 · Ryan Walpole

Earlier this week I stumbled across some old screenshots of my Noba OS project from 2021 and 2022. I could not believe when looking at them how far the project has come. I don't have nearly enough time to dedicate to the project anymore with everything going on in my life at the moment, but I've been chipping away for quite some time. When looking at old screenshots, the biggest thing that stands out to me is just how "alpha" it looks, as Luke described it. Bland, empty spaces, a giant taskbar with very little on it, waaaay too many drop shadows, weird UI choices that I thought were quirky and modern at the time.

That's the kicker though - originally when I took these screenshots in 2021 and 2022, I was happy with the UI. I thought it was close enough to being a ticked off part of the OS. I thought it was the last thing I'd need to change... and yet thankfully, my subconcious led me to make small changes over the last 1-2 years to where it hardly even resembles its former self.

It got me thinking about other old projects, and even some recent projects. I recorded a verse for a remix of a song called 'demons like to party' in November of last year, and it's just been sitting there ready to send to my producer. I took a listen to the demo and wow... it's actually really good. I was so passionately wanting to release it, but through the process of recording it, the spark wore off. Now I feel like that spark is firing back up. I messaged my producer this morning to see if he can do some work on it this week, so hopefully, I can share the progress with the original artist soon.

I'm going to the council on Friday to have a meeting regarding my garage and shed. Once we have that meeting, construction should theoretically begin in a matter of weeks. Super exciting stuff. Soon enough it'll be the house that's under construction and then my life will change for the better.

Listening to "Change You" right now from Demi's seventh studio album. Can really relate to this song at the moment. Maybe I should cover it and release a cover as a final word in that chapter of my life. Meh, maybe. I guess we'll see.
