That's a wrap on January

January 31 2023 · Ryan Walpole

I decided last year that I wanted to do a recap post on this blog for every month of 2023, and since today is the last day of January I figured it was a solid opportunity to do so.

January has been an interesting month. Starting with New Years, I went and enjoyed some time with Dan, Birb and Onyon at the Tarrawingee pub while some old ladies struggled to sing with each other.  Then there was the cattle stockyard work and cattle sale, in which I could see I've gotten a lot better at processing cattle for sale. It's my third year doing it so that's understandable, but still.

I went to Birb and Onyon's to celebrate their birthdays that same week, which was fun. We got to play the Stardew Valley Board Game, which was very good. I knew I'd like it, but it was so faithful to the original game concept and it was surprisingly fun.

Minecraft was a big ticket item for me for January. I've been playing a lot working on my village. I'm actually really looking forward to playing that later this week (after some much needed rest). Speaking of, I just had a four day weekend thanks to some cleverly planned leave for Australia Day. How is it that I am so incredibly tired?

In January I've had plenty of gin and tonics and delicious breakfasts with Dan. Spending Mondays and Tuesday mornings with Dan has been the highlight of my life for the past year and a bit.  For valentine's day we're going to head down to Melbourne and stay at Brunswick for a few nights. Looking forward to seeing Lyle for dinner one night.

Lastly, my meeting with council last Friday went really well. We got all the clarification we needed for the garage's construction and we're planning to start that soon. My builder for the HOUSE called me yesterday with news that he's expecting engineering to be done in the next couple of weeks. Things are coming together, finally.
