House update!

Feburary 8 2023 · Ryan Walpole

The engineering for my house is nearing completion. They had to move a door 300mm to the right on the plans to add a column for the mezzanine floor.  Truth be told, I wanted the door further toward the kitchen anyway so it's a big win-win for me. Also means I don't have to have a column in the middle of the mezzanine - providing me with an uninterrupted view from the kitchen to the living room.

These Things Happen Too

I'm very excited to have this step done. Once the engineering is complete, the energy rating side of things goes through fairly quickly and then we can lodge the build permit. At the moment it looks like things are about to be full steam ahead for the house, which is exciting seeing as I was already beside myself with excitement over being able to start building the garage...

My only concern now is the lead times on glass. Last I heard, Windows were hard to get hands on and I've got a LOT of them. Fired off an email asking for lead times and pricing for glass to a local glass supplier so hopefully by end of week I have more of an idea.

Been a bit of a strange week - all that house excitement and yet I haven't spoken to Onyon all week. He blew up at me last Saturday for making him uncomfortable asking if he was going on a date with someone he's been hanging out with a bit the last couple months. Frustratingly I asked him at his birthday if there was a merely possibility of them being more than friends and he said "Maybe, I dunno". But then when I ask if their date is a "date date" I'm the bad guy who's making him uncomfortable.

Hopefully when he finally reads my response he can see that I didn't mean to make him feel uncomfortable. I was just trying to keep up to date with his life. I'm gonna play some Hogwarts Legacy tonight (hopefully with Mew). Very excited about the game. I can't wait to be a dark wizard. Should be able to help me get my mind off of things...

In other news, I'm heading to Melbourne next week to spend Valentine's day with Dan. We're going to drive to Brunswick on Monday, have dinner with Lakoola monday evening, spend Valentine's day exploring and shopping and then have a nice valentine's dinner on the Yarra river. We get to visit Riley and Steve on Wednesday before coming home, so that'll be fun. I look forward to seeing the lil stober.
