Office go bang

This last week has been a wild rollercoaster. After my last post, I finished the rest of my work week and released a new program on Friday. It lets you turn a website or web-based application into a full desktop experience for Windows. I'm really proud of it, despite it launching with a fair share of mostly avoidable bugs. On Saturday, we poured concrete into my freshly dug out pier holes and actually concreted the foundations in for my garage. It was a pretty long day but a lot of progress was made. This weekend I should be able to actually erect some posts - actual visible posts that will start the process of framing the garage. Feels like I've been waiting forever for that moment, so definitely excited to see it come to fruition. All that being said we have a bunch of farm work to do that'll involve me getting in a tractor so whether or not we'll get to it this weekend is yet to be seen.
On Monday, Dan and I watched some more Avatar - getting up to the Secret Tunnel episode that everyone's always carrying on about. So far I'm actually enjoying it a lot more than I first thought. I've seen bits and pieces on morning television as a kid as well as the disasterous movie when I was like 13, but seeing it in order and having the story make sense is a nice change of pace.
Tuesday was business as usual - though at around 3pm lightning struck my office. It literally sounded like someone dropped a TD20 on my office roof. The lightning did quite a bit of damage. The fascia plate on a power outlet in my office quite literally was blown off of the outlet. It destroyed six or seven data points, frying three computers and five computer monitors despite the surge protection. Luckily thanks to my genius setting up and operating of the systems here, we had next to no data loss.
Unfortunately for me, however, I have a receptionist and finance officer that has no working computer until next Tuesday when replacements arrive. Pressure is on for me to minimise issues and make sure everything's set up so everyone can receive their pay next week.
Last night I was home alone for the first time in a while, so I took the opportunity to experiment in the kitchen. I bought some peking duck on sale at the supermarket, cooked it in the oven and shredded it up and tossed it into a pasta. It was kind of italian-asian fusion, though the only real italian in it was the tagiatelle pasta. The sauce consisted of sauteed onion, garlic, red chili, ginger and spring onion with a splash of soy sauce, some chicken stock and the juices leftover from the tray of duck breasts. After some corn starch slurry, the sauce thickened into a really nice consistency though the dish itself was quite rich - I had a considerate amount less than my usual portion. The duck was delicious as always.
On Monday I'm taking mum and Dan to Albury to go to the Harris Farm Markets. Gonna enjoy a prawn and chili pizza and do some grocery shopping. Hoping for a lobster tail, some fresh prawns and a nice steak. We may go to Amart next door to look at furniture for the house I'm still yet to build. They have a couch that you can get in yellow that I reaaaally like, so maybe they'll have that in the show room (albeit, likely not in yellow) so I can get a feel for the quality and comfort.
If I had to summarise this last week it would be; lots of progress, busy at work, office go bang.
